DMX has filed for bankruptcy. The Wall Street Journal reports that the rapper, who dominated the charts in the late 90s/early 00s with hits like "Party Up (Up In Here)," owes $1.24 million in child support and more than $21,000 on an auto lease, among other debts.

According to X's rep, mismanagement from his prior team was on contributor to his financial woes. “DMX’s financial strains have been inhibiting his career for several years. Poor financial management by prior representation have caused him to be ineligible to retain a passport," they said in a statement. "The purpose of this bankruptcy filing is for reorganization so he can perform for his fans oversees." The rep adds, "We are currently planning a tour in Europe and Africa for the fall of 2013.”

Days ago, X was arrested in South Carolina for DUI. The rapper was picked up by highway patrol on Friday around 3 AM ET for allegedly driving under the influence. In February, he was busted for driving without a license.
