For the first time, LeBron James isn’t looking to take an open shot or pass to a teammate. He’s looking to create the perfect soundtrack. The producers of NBA 2k14 have tapped the NBA MVP champion to lead its music supervision team, selecting tracks that will best exemplify the high energy and graphics of the game itself.
According to NBA.com, LeBron has chosen hits that include Drake’s “Started From the Bottom,” Daft Punk and Pharrell’s “Get Lucky” as well as music from other artists like Fly Union, Jadakiss, Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z and Kanye West. The album will also feature alternative and rock artists such as Imagine Dragons, The Black Keys and Coldplay.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Can't Hold Us," made the cut, in addition to Big K.R.I.T.'s "Cool 2 Be Southern."
Jay-Z was involved in crafting NBA 2k13, working as the executive producer, but this is the first time the music supervision role has been given to a player. Recognizing this honor, Lebron noted, “I love that I’m the first NBA 2k cover athlete to choose the soundtrack.”
