Kanye West's new capsule line with French brand A.P.C. has been wildly popular since its reveal yesterday, but a specific item has been the talk of the town: The "Hip Hop T-Shirt," a shirt made of Egyptian cotton, which retails for $120 and is available in white and dark navy. And apparently, 'Ye fans love it.
According to People, Ye's collection has sold out and A.P.C. is currently restocking items. "The nine-piece capsule collection (which A.P.C. designer Jean Touitou said was two years in the making) crashed the site and sold out promptly, though A.P.C. is still taking pre-orders for the next shipment until Wednesday at 1:00 p.m." shares People.
Fans on Twitter blasted the shirt for being overpriced and many compared it to a plain white tee. "LMAO...dying over the fact Kanye is selling a plain white t-shirt for $120 called "Hip Hop T-Shirt" and y'all buying into it," said Whadafunk.
Rev Mike Cohen and others found the shirt contradictory, given Ye's recent song "New Slaves" which critiques materialism. "Kanye 'Plain White T' goes for $120. what about #newslaves?" Cohen asked.
Guns And Crayons added, "Gotta love Kanye West he will make a song like new slaves then turn around and sell you a $120 white tee made of Egyptian cotton smh."
