Lil Wayne likes to do things on his own time and last week the YMCMB rapper issued his first verbal apology to Emmett Till's family for his controversial "Karate Chop" lyrics, during a concert in Nashville, Tennessee.
Weezy previously came under fire for the line "Beat the p---y up like Emmett Till," and last week, instead of rapping the line he replaced it with a somber statement instead, telling the crowd, "I apologize to the family of Emmett Till"
In May, Wayne's camp issued a written apology for the lyrics, but the Till family wasn't satisfied with it. "While it's commendable that he has vowed to respect the legacy of Emmett Till and his memory to 'not use or reference Emmett Till or the Till family in his music,' this statement falls short of an apology, as none is mentioned," Airicka Gordon-Taylor, a Till family representative said at the time.
There's been no comment from the Till family on Wayne's recent apology as yet.
