J. Cole hit the stage in NYC on Wednesday night to perform two shows on his “Dollar And A Dream” tour and Drake made a cameo during the second set to show some love. Later on, the two rappers hit up the Best Buy store in Union Square, where they cleaned out the supply of Born Sinner albums on the shelves.
They shared some of the love too, picking up a few other albums from artists like Kendrick, French Montana…and Sade, because it’s Drake we’re talking about here. The grand total? $888. And if Cole needed a little reassurance that he did the right thing by pushing up his album release date to coincide with Yeezus, then he must’ve been pleased when the cashier informed him that his record was selling better than ’Ye’s in that location.
“This is art, and I can’t compete against the Kanye West celebrity and the status that he’s earned just from being a genius,” Cole said during his visit to “RapFix Live” this week. “But I can put my name in the hat and tell you that I think my album is great and you be the judge and you decide.”
