Gucci Mane and Chief Keef made headlines when they announced to the world that Sosa had joined Big Guwop’s Bricksquad 1017 label and now both rappers are moving forward making sure they give fans those high-powered street collaborations that they’ve been expecting. On Sunday MTV News was on the Atlanta video set for Gucci and Keef’s latest get-together "Darker."
"The concept [of the video] is that ATL bike life. That street bike life is real big now," director Spiff TV told us as street stuntmen rode dirt bikes and four-wheelers with the two stars rapping to camera. "Shout out to Meek Mill, he really put me more up on it. From Baltimore and Philly. The parks, riding four-wheelers and just that lifestyle."
Most know Spiff from his directorial and A&R duties with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group, but the Orlando, Florida native has branched out quite a few times before, shooting videos for non-MMG artists like Waka Flocka Flame and Diddy. "Me and Rozay checked out Gucci’s album and listened to the joints," Spiff told us of how the vid came about. "Gucci was like, ‘Yo, I got another one called ‘Darker’ it’s me and Chief Keef. Me and Sosa, we gonna go in; we need you to do it.’ I was like, ‘I got you, it’s nothin’."
For their performance Gucci and Chief Keef rapped standing in front of a red Bentley for one scene and then again in a wrecked, underground parking lot surrounded by spare tires, roadside flares and of course beautiful video models.
There’s no telling what other collaborations Gucci and Sosa have in the works, but they are already off to a promising start.
