T-Pain hasn’t been feeling the comparisons drawn between himself and Future (who has been dubbed as “the new T-Pain” because of his auto-tune use) so a couple months back when he sent out an Instagram message poking fun at Future’s hook on Ace Hood’s “Bugatti,” fans figured he was just taking an open shot. But it turns out that he literally lent them his old Bugatti for the video shoot, and he actually wouldn’t mind working with the Atlanta rapper and producer.
In terms of Future’s use of auto-tune, Pain previously had this to say: "I don't think Future gets the technology very well. I don't think he understands how it actually works.”
So when he sent the below message, it was easy to assume that he was just throwing daggers.
“Funny thing about that Bugatti you woke up in, #ItsMine #OhTheIrony,” he wrote back in February. “hahahaaaa funny how “the new T-Pain” has to use “The old T-Pain’s Bugatti for his Bugatti hook hahaaaaa yea. So. There’s That. Not at all throwing shots at @Acehood that’s my man 100 grand.”
When RapFix caught up with T-Pain this week, he explained that he meant the tweet literally. “It’s mine—they used it for the video,” he said of the Bugatti featured in the clip. “That’s really my car in the video. I wasn’t dissing nobody [although] everybody thought I was dissing.”
And just to make it clear that there were no hard feelings, Pain added that he’d be down to collaborate with Future if they could find the time. “He’s much more busy than I am, but I’m pretty sure he can find some time,” he said. “I’m chilling at the house, sitting on my ass collecting checks, so as soon as he’s got some time.”
