There’s no questioning the loyalty that exists within Black Hippy, but when it comes to MC’in, the California rap collective refuse to bow down to anyone-- not even each other.
"I’m better than all of them, I should’ve won," Schoolboy Q told MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway after he and his band of brothers learned that K-Dot topped the "Hottest MC in the Game VIII" list.
"I’m better than him," the "Hands on the Wheel" spitter said jokingly trying to hold back his laughter.
Jay Rock on the other hand was amazed that Kendrick snagged the #1 spot, though he credited the win to a great work ethic in the studio. "Me and Dot had this talk a long time ago. We used to sit in the studio just trying to figure it out," he said. "All of us, not just me and Dot, but Soul, Q. We were just tryin’ to figure it out man and to be here now to see this is crazy. It’s still unbelievable."
During his one-on-one sit down with Sway, Lamar explained that on his debut LP good kid, m.A.A.d city he wasn’t just telling his story, he told the story of all of his friends from Compton as well. Now, fans are wondering when Black Hippy will officially get together and tell us some more of their stories as a unit and release their debut group album.
So, when exactly is that LP coming?
"Never for me," answered Q. "I don’t like these dudes, I really don’t like these dues. I’m better than all these dudes."
