Being a celebrity allows you to cut through many lines, however there is one that not even the brightest of stars can skip out on… airport security. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were returning from Brazil on Tuesday when the pair were pulled off of their connecting flight for not going through security.
According to TMZ, an airline employee met the pair once they landed at JFK and rushed them past security so they could make the next connecting flight back to Los Angeles. Hopefully the two didn’t get too comfortable in their seats because a TSA agent boarded the plane and asked them to undergo the necessary security screenings.
TSA explained, “The airline employee violated security protocols by permitting the travelers to bypass the TSA security checkpoint. TSA officials learned of the violation and conducted a private screening of the two passengers in the area of the jetway.”
After the required check, Kardashian and West were allowed back on the flight. TSA told TMZ, “This was a lapse of judgment by one of our employees.” Although the twosome helped to delay the plane by 50 minutes, they were reportedly not the sole cause since there was also a lag of transferring some of the connecting bags onto the L.A bound plane.
