Lil Mama, known for her “Lip Gloss” single and being a judge on “America’s Best Dance Crew,” has upgraded to acting. MC Lyte revealed at VIBE’s Impact Awards that the Brooklyn rapper is set to play Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes in an upcoming TLC biopic on VH1.
“I don’t know if I’m supposed to say, but I will. She just got the role of Left Eye in TLC’s new movie,” she told HipHollywood, also sharing her plans to assist the young MC. “I’m gonna put a little bit of concentration and focus on helping to uplift a sister, who is talented, smart, witty, and just had her chances cut too short and that’s Lil Mama, ’cause she is a talented young lady. So I want to see her do some beautiful things.”
According to reports, Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins and Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas will serve as executive producers and consultants for the movie, which is currently in pre-production.
MC Lyte and Lil Mama are also hitting the studio together. Lyte explained they were working on a hip-hop sisters track to include other femcees. “We’re working on a hip-hop sisters ‘record,” she said. “I’ll be doing songs with her, with [Lady of] Rage. Monie [Love] will do a song with Yo-Yo. We’re gonna mix it up. It’s gonna be nice.”
