Since last week’s drive-by shooting in Fort Lauderdale, Rick Ross has been targeted with more than just bullets. 50 Cent accused the MMG CEO of staging the event, while Uncle Luke reprimanded him for his thuggish behavior in an open letter. But amidst all the criticism is a voice of genuine concern. Wale, became the first MMG rapper to comment on the incident in an interview with Atlanta Streetz 94.5.
“I think the media has been perpetuating a lot of things,” Wale said. “God forbid something happens to anybody…and everybody was making a joke.”
The Ambition MC also said that he had to un-follow a lot of people on Twitter because of their responses to the event. “It’s a joke to y’all ‘cause you see somebody on TV everyday. But what if that’s your friend?” Wale said. ‘Cause that’s my friend.”
He later added: "I was talking to him last night about the football games. So what y'all think is a joke, that's somebody's health. I know his children.” The risk of Ross’ injury (or worse, death) is even more personal to Wale because he recently lost a family member. “I just lost one of my brothers so I don't even play around with that stuff. There's a lot of power in the tongue,” he said.
