Rick Ross Makes Directorial Debut With 'Pirates' Video

By Rob Markman

Rick Ross told us that he hopes to shoot a video for every song off of his Grammy-nominated, gold-selling LP God Forgives, I Don’t and on Sunday (January 20) the Boss took another step closer to his goal when he dropped the visual for "Pirates."

The MTV Jam of the Week was co-directed by Maybach Music lensman Dre Films and Rozay himself, marking the first time the rap star has stepped behind the camera.

Set in Miami, the vibrant visual starts at a dock, while Ross and his lady walk towards an electric blue speed boat that they later make waves in. "Hallucinations of money, while n---as stomach just rumble/ Had to f--- with the Haitians and break a kilo to crumbles," Rick spits with his usual underworld bossims.

The narrative follows the rapper and his queen as they make a dubious deal, exchanging duct-taped duffle bags in the middle of the sea for what we can assume is large sums of cash. It all goes down without a hitch as Rozay and his business partners go their separate ways with smiles and hearty pounds. The good times are further exemplified during the video’s regal performance shots where the boss sits on a coral, sea-inspired throne wearing fur-laced garments, while puffing on a cigar.

"I'mma shoot a video to every record on the album," Ross promised when he appeared on "RapFix Live" in August. Out of God Forgive’s 14 songs (the album’s intro "Pray For Us" is not an actual song), Rozay has released clips for 10 of them. Only "Ashamed," "Maybach Music IV," "Ice Cold" and the Andre 3000-assisted "Sixteen" remain undone. For the later, the MMG CEO revealed that 3 Stacks has already started work on the visual. "He's writing the treatment for the video," Rozay confirmed last year. "It's looking real big."

Now whether he can actually get the elusive Outkast MC to commit to the video is another story.
