"Although there is only one Riff Raff, James Franco did his thing," Riff Raff said to MTV Hive via text message on Thursday after seeing the trailer for the Harmony Korine-directed flick. "James Franco has diligently studied my style for months on end and he should win a Grammy."
Gucci Mane, who makes his acting debut in the upcoming flick which also stars Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens, believes Jody Highroller is quite mistaken. "Truthfully he lying," the Trap God told XXLMag.com on Friday. "I think Riff Raff’s just trying to gain some attention. And I think maybe [Franco] may favor a little bit his appearance, but it don’t have anything to do with the artist named Riff Raff. I know that for a fact."
Franco’s cornrowed, gold-toothed Alien bares a strong resemblance to the former "From G’s to Gents"star, but the veteran actor told GQ that even though he took a look at some of Riff Raff’s videos he based his character off a little-known Florida rapper named Dangerous.
After premiering the movie’s trailer on Thursday on MTV News, we caught up with Waka Flocka Flame and he was quite amused by Gucci’s role in the movie. Actually, the "Wasted" rapper never told his buddy about the film. "Honestly, he did that on the low. He knew I was gonna laugh at him," Waka said. "He did that on the low. I can't wait to see it."
For Gucci, the role of Archie may not be a large departure from his real life. "I’m a super bad guy in this role, you know what I’m saying? It’s like a role that was easy for me to play cause I’m just a street guy," he told XXL.
