Wale Gets Jerry Seinfeld On 'The Album About Nothing'

We’re barely halfway deep in to the first month of the year, but Wale has been putting in work. He dropped his latest mixtape, Folarin, on Christmas Eve. He debuted his new music video “Never Never” yesterday. How do you follow this up? Wale gets veteran comedian and television sitcom star, Jerry Seinfeld, to work on his upcoming record, The Album About Nothing.

Fans of Wale realize the importance of this to his career. Seinfeld has been influential on the MMG emcee’s career as seen 2008’s A Mixtape About Nothing and also in 2010’s follow-up mixtape More About Nothing. Wale dropped an in-studio video interview with the 90’s icon this afternoon. In this we hear about how the two met and the mutual appreciation they have for each other. Seinfeld said “I got the call from Wale and DJ Omega here. They called me to come in. I had to be here. If I’m going to do this, this are the guys that I’m going to do it with.” Not too many people can get a co-sign from the legendary comedian.

We can add the pairing to the hip-hop odd couple’s list. The list is comprised of 50 Cent and Bette Midler, Snoop and Willie Nelson, and Jay-Z and Gwyneth Paltrow.

The tandem does spark curiosity. This may be Wale’s vision but what will the overall sound be like? Seinfeld said that “hip-hop’s words, right? So I do words. Why don’t you take my words and do something with it?” Well on thing’s certain. This will be like #nothing we’ve ever heard before.
