YMCMB representer Tyga knows better than anybody that it doesn't get any more West Coast than the beat from Dr. Dre and the artist formerly known as Snoop Dogg's seminal street classic, "Deep Cover." Which is why he chose it for his latest single, "Dope," previously titled "187," from his forthcoming sophomore opus, Hotel California.
For the visuals, the 23-year old spitter enlisted veteran director Colin Tilley, who sets the tone with a ski-masked Tyga walking up to an unmarked car weilding a gun. After he shoots an undercover cop through the car window, he makes his way back to his own vehicle and a high-speed police chase ensues as he drives off.
The shot picks back up with Tyga in a Nino Brown-esque lair complete with a bearskin rug, peeling back luxury-laced verses with ease. Rick Ross then enters the frame in a designer sweatsuit spitting his signature gruff flow, before stepping it up a notch in a full-length mink.
Elsewhere in the clip, there are pyrotechnics, video vixens and, of course, more chase sequences.
