Shawty Lo's “All My Babies’ Mamas" hasn't even aired, but it's shaping up to be one of the most controversial reality shows in recent time. There are now conflicting reports about whether the show, which highlights the rapper and his 10 different baby mommas, will air or not.
The Daily Beast reported yesterday that Oxygen had pulled the plug on the show due to backlash from critics who cite the show as a negative portrayal of African Americans. An Internet petition calling for the show to cease has over 37,000 signatures.
All Hip Hop is sharing that Oxygen is actually moving forward and rumors of the show ending due to backlash are simply not true. “This rumor is simply untrue. The project remains in early development,” an Oxygen rep told AllHipHop.com.
Last week MTV News caught up with Shawty Lo and while he couldn't speak on the reality show specifically, he did defend his role as a dad.
"You can hate all you want to, I didn't ask for it. It just happened. Now that it happened, I'm supposed to turn my back against it?" he said. "If I wasn't taking care of my kids then you would really dog me out, but I'm taking care of my kids, providing for my family. I don't know what else to say."
What do you think? Should Shawty Lo’s "All My Babies’ Mamas" make it to air?
