Drake Gets Tattoos Of His Uncle And Grandmother

By Georgette Pierre

Drake, known for his clean cut look, has taken a liking to tattoos which now includes two new additions to his back. According to his fan site, Word on Road, the new tattoos are of his uncle (whom he credits for his success and references on the song “Look What You’ve Done” from his sophomore album, Take Care) and his grandmother who passed away on Thanksgiving.

He tapped California tattoo artist Nikko Hurtado and  photos of the session were tweeted. “Rad experience with @Drake he sat like a champ," Hurtado wrote, “Late night session @Drake thanks dude it was an honor.”

In addition to his newest back tats, Drake’s collection also includes a bird on his left shoulder, an owl on his right shoulder, Aaliyah on the mid-left area of his back, Toronto area code, 4-1-6, on his right rib cage, ALL KINDS on his inner right arm, and Toronto’s CN Tower on his left bicep. He definitely carries his city with him. Back in 2010, Drake recounts the conversation he had with his YMCMB boss, Lil Wayne, who was then serving a short bid at Rikers Island, about not getting any tattoos. Look how far Drake has come since then.

In addition to getting inked up on his body, Drake also inked a new deal for his OVO label imprint with Warner Music earlier this month. Although he was fairly quiet this year with releasing any new music, the YMCMB rapper still gave 2012 some things to talk about including his high school diploma, where he gave a graduation speech. 2013 looks very promising for the 26-year-old singer/rapper/actor.
