Game got extra generous with his weekly Sunday Service music series this week and gave away a total of three songs. The previously posted “Black Jesus” and later in the day on Sunday “HVN 4 A GNGSTA” and “Hallelujah”.
The Compton rapper recruited Master P and DJ Premier for “HVN” and with a classic boom-bap beat, Game laid down lines about gangsters ascending into the heavens.
“The greatest stories remain untold/and souls with their way transpiring in the gun smoke. I tell the stories so my sons know/ I believe there is a heaven for a gangsta n---a,” Game rapped over Preemo’s heavy drums.
Though the track sounded good to us here at RapFix, DJ Premier let it be known that it isn’t the final mix. “@thegame This is not a Final Mix....I have to lay scratches on it but we gonna roll wit the leak in the meantime.... #JesusPieceDec. 11.”
For his third Sunday track Game unleashed “Hallelujah” with Jamie Foxx. This gospel-inspired gem features Foxx and The Documentary spitter singing to a church choir background creating a heavenly mix that is fitting for Game’s church inspired LP.
The Compton MC makes a shout out to “The Jeffersons” actor Sherman Hemsley who recently passed away. "R.I.P. to my n---a George Jefferson," Game says at the beginning of the track.
Holding his own style of Sunday service, Game raps about being forgiven for his sins and loving Jesus.
“Forgive me for my sins/ I didn’t mean to walk into church cursing again/I wanna live righteous and you know I love Jesus,” he raps.
Although “HVN 4 GNGSTA” is not slated to appear on his Jesus Piece album, “Hallelujah” is set to appear on the album. Jesus Piece is set to hit the stores December 11.
