It comes as no surprise that seasoned mom, Solange Knowles, is offering Beyonce a helping hand in babysitting Blue Ivy. Solange moved to Brooklyn last year along with her boyfriend, music video director Alan Ferguson, and her 8-year old son Juelz to be closer to their families on the East Coast. In an interview with NY Mag Solange expresses how nice it was to be close to her sister after spending a few years on opposite coasts.
Solange got pregnant at 17 and moved to Idaho with her husband Daniel Smith, but divorced at 21. “[It was a time] when you really need your sister,"she said. "Every time there was drama and I was all the way in Idaho, it was nice to be able to call. Now it’s kind of a reversal, with her getting married and having a baby after me.”
Both Beyonce and Solange keep their families close today by babysitting each other’s kids. “Blue comes over, I babysit,” she explained. “[Beyonce} takes Juelz sometimes for the weekend. [Blue] and Juelz are going to grow up more like sister and brother than cousins.”
And it seems like 8-year old Juelz is also learning a few tricks of the trade from his Uncle Jay, because according to Solange he writes raps and loves it. Now we just have to wait for Blue to learn to walk so she can start breaking it down on the dance floor just like her mom and aunt.
Solange's seven track EP True is set to be released November 27.
