The Brooklyn Nets played their first game of the NBA season at their brand new home in Brooklyn's Barclays Center on Saturday night (November 3), with Jay-Z and Beyonce sitting courtside for the momentous occasion.
The Nets played the Toronto Raptors, beating them 107-100 in their first home game of the season. The crowd was wild with "Brooklyn!" chants for an occasion that still seemed surreal to some fans. "That gave me jitters, man. Chills," Nets guard Joe Johnson told AP. "I know that these fans want the best for this team. All they want from us is to work hard and give them a show."
The Nets were set to kick off the season with their first game against the New York Knicks at Barclays last Thursday, but the game was postponed due to hurricane Sandy's toll on the Tri-state area. Bey and Jay were courtside for the winning match, after they'd both gotten a chance to perform in the arena a few weeks earlier during Jay's series of 8 opening shows. Beyonce joined him on the final night.
