Rappers are known for getting the crowd pumped and interactive during shows so it comes as no surprise that an energetic spitter like Flo Rida has an appreciation for the art of cheerleading. Recently, the Carol City, Florida-bred MC and his Manager Lee “Freezy” Prince hosted the inaugural Cheerleading Competition for the Florida Youth Football League (FYFL), which focuses on education, the cheer program and empowering student athletes to become leaders on and off the field.
The Atlantic recording artist, whose recent single, “Whistle,” from his latest LP, Wild Ones, landed at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, brought out his friends Christina Milian, Trina, Grammy winner Betty Wright, Brisco & his artists Whyl Chyl, TeamPhylte to encourage the cheerleaders to focus on their education, understand the importance of teamwork, reach beyond the stars and to remember, regardless of which team walked away with the grand prize, that everyone is a winner.
The first Florida Youth Football League Cheerleaders (FYFLC) Cheer Competition encouraged participation from the entire family. The packed house at Dillard High School gym in South Florida exploded with excitement when FYFLC Moms and Dads participated in a jump and tumble off contest.
“Seeing the young ladies of the FYFLC happy and getting their mom and dad not only to attend but to participate, make events like this so special” Flo Rida said in a statement to RapFix.
Flo Rida and the FYFL are currently gearing up for their Super Bowl Game scheduled November 18, 2012.
