Who says you need to be an athlete to autograph jerseys? Jay-Z, who owns a small share in the Brooklyn Nets (and helped to christen the new Barclays Center with 8 shows) has autographed ten limited edition “Carter 4” jerseys that will be auctioned off for charity. The proceeds will benefit the Shawn Carter Foundation, which helps individuals in financial distress by funding their education at higher learning institutions.
Beginning today, October 17 and continuing through Wednesday, Oct. 31, the signed jerseys will go on sale on Auctions.NBA.com. Adidas helped with the design of the black and white jersey, which matches the herringbone-design of the new basketball court at the Barclays Center. We can’t forget that the jerseys also feature “Brooklyn” on the front – no surprise there Jay!
During his string of shows at the new Barclays Center, Hov told the crowd, “I believe everybody in the world is born with genius level talent. Apply yourself to whatever you're genius at and you can do anything in the world.” Look out for the auction that will be going on until October 31st for a limited edition Brooklyn Nets jersey. Going once, going twice – sold!
