Gunplay is not having the best week ever. After brawling with 50 Cent's crew at the BET Hip Hop Awards, the Miami rapper was forced to turn himself into authorities on Wednesday (October 10) when a warrant from this spring caught up with him.
The Miami-Dade Police Department confirmed to MTV News on Thursday (October 10) that the "Rollin' " rapper finally turned himself in, and he now faces armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault charges and is being held with no bond. Gunplay also got hit with a separate charge for having a non-valid driver's license.
Though it was reported that the Rick Ross affiliate would surrender to authorities Tuesday, he took an extra day before putting an end to the inevitable. "Gunplay voluntarily surrendered today without incident. There's been an open arrest warrant for armed robbery with a firearm," the rapper's attorney Mike Grieco told TMZ.
Greico also told Hip-Hop Wired that his client would not be able to make the Smoking Section's showcase at A3C Festival this weekend. “The likelihood of [Gunplay] being out by the weekend is slim to none,” he said. “It was either he turned himself in, or if he performed this weekend they would have just pulled him off the stage. He was in handcuffs at one point up in Atlanta and they released him without knowing that they had a warrant. But they know now.”
