It's September 18, which means that Kanye West and G.O.O.D. Music have officially released their first group album to retailers...except iTunes? Physical copies of Cruel Summmer are available for purchase at record stores but the album has been noticeably absent from the online platform, leaving some fans to wonder if the project really dropped. This is surprising since last week snippets of the LP were available for streaming on iTunes.
G.O.O.D. Music labelmates The Killers also released their latest album Battle Born on September 18 and that project is available for iTunes download, indicating that it's not a major issue between Apple and Def Jam, or any glitch with iTunes itself.
Kanye West is known for letting his 'creativity' take over when it comes to his music and the way its delivered to the public, so we wouldn't be surprised if Mr. West is behind Cruel Summer's iTunes absence. MTV News and RapFix have reached out to Def Jam for comment, but in the meantime there has been no statement from their camp on why only physical copies of the album are currently available.
The LP leaked a few days ahead of its anticipated release, and while the G.O.O.D. Music crew has been making their rounds in support of the album, there hasn't been a peep from Kanye West. What gives?
