Plans are well underway for Jay-Z and Beyonce's exclusive fundraiser for President Obama tonight in NYC. Held at Jay-Z's 40/40 nightclub, the $40,000 per head event is slated to draw in $4 million for Obama's re-election campaign. Details have begun to emerge about the opulent soiree the chosen few will experience tonight including a 350-bottle champagne tower featuring Jay's high-end grape of choice, Armand de Brignac or more popularly known as Ace of Spades.
“It’s floor-to-ceiling gold bottles in the entire space. It’s beautiful — breathtaking,” a rep for the 40/40 told the NY Post about the custom installation. “It’s the first thing you see when you walk in.” The guest list for the affair is highly-guarded and the Post reports that a White House reporter will only get a brief foray into the event tonight.
Jay has long backed Obama and even rapped about him on several occasions, including on Young Jeezy's "My President" remix and on the 2009 single "On to the Next One," on which Jay claimed that he had "Obama on the text."
On September 1, during Jay's Made in America music festival performance in Philadelphia, the rapper rolled out a special message from the president on the big screen as tens of thousands of fans cheered on. "To me, the idea of America is that no matter who you are, what you look like or where you come from, you can make it if you try. Jay-Z did it," the Prez said in the pre-taped message following "Public Service Announcement." "He didn't come from power or privilege. He got ahead because he worked hard, learned from his mistakes and just plain refused to quit. That's what 'made in America' means."
