Chris Brown Snags Best Male Video At VMAs

By James Dinh

Chris Brown has had a rough few months, but tonight, this one was for team Breezy.

One of the ugliest feuds in recent hip-hop history took an interesting spin at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards tonight (September 6) when Chris Brown bested his friend-tuned-foe competitor Drake alongside others for the coveted Best Male Video Moonman.

"First and foremost, I want to thank Team Breezy," he said at the podium during his acceptance speech for his animalistic party-craze clip. "Riveting Entertainment because this is my first time actually being able to direct a video by myself," before sending more thanks to his management, RCA Records and MTV.

As with many nominees, Brown was the subject of host Kevin Hart's opening skit, which poked fun at the violent club brawl that took place between the two back in June.

"Right now you guys are arguing over a mistake. You're arguing over a thrown bottle in the club," Hart said. "Drake is from Canada. Drake loves to recycle. Drake thought there was a recycle bin in Chris's section," before cameras panned to a laughing Drizzy.

Breezy's claim to the Best Male title was one of the first awards of the star-studded night, which was presented by Rita Ora and Demi Lovato. Daper in shiny grey suit and skinny black tie, the winner appeared unfazed by Hart's jokes, sharing high fives with fans and offering kisses to his songstress presenters.

In addition to beating out the Young Money MC and Rihanna's "Take Care," CB's self-directed video won over Frank Ocean's "Swim Good," Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend," and Usher's "Climax."
