Evelyn Lozada kept a low profile in the weeks immediately following the reported assault from her husband and former Miami Dolphins player Chad Johnson, but the "BasketBall Wives" star opened up about that night in a recent interview with ABC’s Nightline.
Lozada detailed the moments leading up to the incident, explaining that she found a receipt for condoms in Johnson's car and confronted him about it. "And then the next thing I know, he grabbed me by here [pointing to her head] and he head-butted me," she said. "I felt blood coming down my face… and I looked at him and I said, 'You just head-butted me?' And it just -- everything just felt if it was in slow motion."
She said that following the alleged head butt, she disconnected. "He was gone to me, like, it wasn't him," she said. "He got out of the car, really, really quick and ran into the house, and I said to myself, 'I need to get out of here.'"
When asked about the backlash and criticism she's faced, from viewers who have questioned her story after watching her sometimes violent conflicts on "Basketball Wives," she said this to say: "I understand it, but I also think that it’s like saying, ‘Well, look at that woman that…look at what she had on. That’s why she got raped,’ you know? I just feel like…I feel it’s a little unfair, you know? Whatever the perception of me is on Basketball Wives, that doesn’t justify what happened that day, you know? That’s catty drama amongst women on a reality show.
