Lupe Fiasco Goes Black On Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1 Cover Art

By Carter Maness

If the title of Lupe Fiasco’s upcoming Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1 isn’t bold enough, the album’s cover should seal the deal. The Chicago rapper revealed the cover art today (August 23), and it gives a new meaning to all-black-everything. Take a look after the jump.

Fiasco, who premiered his new video for “Bitch Bad” yesterday (August 22) on “RapFix Live,” is making a major statement with a totally black cover that includes no artist name nor album title. It might be first major label record cover to go all-black since Metallica’s self-titled juggernaut in 1991, and even that one had a coiled-up cobra hidden in the right corner.

Fiasco’s album is still set for release on September 25 via Atlantic Records. The MC recently changed-up the marketing plan for his sequel to 2006’s breakout Food & Liquor by including “Battle Scars” on the album and pushing it as his next single. Already an Australian chart-topper, which features down under singer Guy Sebastian, the track will go on sale in the U.S. on August 28.
