On September 14, the ever popular Tekken gaming franchise is releasing their newest installment of Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and they tapped the reinvented Snoop Dogg (AKA Snoop Lion) to hop on the video games theme song “Knocc ‘Em Down.” The visual for “Knocc ‘Em Down” does a solid job of incorporating the video games' actual gameplay and capturing the Rastafarian essence of the self-proclaimed reincarnated Bob Marley.
Rasta hat…check, heavy Jamaican accent…check, Snoop referring to himself as “Snoop Lion” a few times throughout the cut…check! All of these elements are put on display in the new “Knocc ‘Em Down” video, showing us that Snoop is taking this new approach to his career pretty seriously.
In a recent interview with MTV News, Snoop was asked about Dr. Dre’s reaction to his new movement. "He would see me come to rehearsals with all of my Rastafari, my gear, my hair, my look. He was just peeping me out, and I let him know I was doing a reggae project and working on the album and whatnot, but he didn't really understand it until 'La La La' came out," Snoop said. “La, La, La” was the first single from his upcoming album Reincarnated.
Snoop has admitted that he is officially tired of rap and wanted to try something different. That was the motivation that led him to Jamaica, where he recorded all of Reincarnated after he got the blessing from Bob Marley's family.
