Lupe Fiasco has a voice, and he isn't afraid to use it. Whether he's delivering masterful bars in the recording booth or speaking out against political injustice in his interviews, the Chicago MC has a message that's equally important as his music, and on Wednesday, he is going to bring both to "RapFix Live."
Fans will still have to wait a few months before Carrera Lu releases his long-awaited Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album, but already the nimble-tongued lyricist is off to a fast start. Back in May, the "Superstar" MC's "Around My Way" single set off a firestorm of controversy because of its sampling of Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth's classic rap tune "They Reminisce Over You," but those who looked past the headlines found something greater.
On the track, Lu raps of the world's inequalities, spitting about oil-based politics and inner-city ills in the same breath before coming to the conclusion that "Freedom ain't free." Since being released in June, the track's video already has clocked in more than 1 million views on YouTube. Fiasco's second single, "Bad Bitch," is a satirical, tongue-in-cheek rap that promotes uplifting women.
Expect Lupe to give an interview as insightful and informative as his music when he takes a seat with Sway Calloway on the "RapFix Live" couch.
Lu isn't the only spitter who will show up on Wednesday: Former Firm rapper Nature will also swing through the set to talk about his latest goings-on. We'll also bring you the latest news and spotlight up-and-coming rap talent in our weekly "Get in the Game" segment. Don't miss it!
Catch Lupe Fiasco and Nature on "RapFix Live," Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com, and be sure to join the Twitter conversation using the hashtag #RapFixLive. Send your questions for the artists @MTVRapFix!
