Murs Supports Gay Rights, Kisses A Man In 'Animal Style' Video

By Adrian Prelvukaj

Amidst all the talk about Frank Ocean’s sexual declaration last week, California rapper Murs has released a music video that is in full support of gay marriage. The track, titled “Animal Style” is featured on Murs' Love & Rockets, Volume 1: The Transformation and the visual has a cinematic feel as Murs plays his role as the narrator, a gay high school student named Roderick.

In the clip, Roderick is in a relationship with Jonathan; an openly gay student at his high school. Murs’ character on the other hand keeps his sexuality more on the D.L. as Murs spits, “Boyfriend Roderick kept his secret closeted/Scared to come out into this world of zero tolerance.”

Throughout the cut, Murs tries to display the trials and tribulations that you’d expect in a relationship that’s put under so much pressure. “Wanted Roderick to follow him/He see him in the halls but Rod would never acknowledge him,” Murs raps. The climax of the video comes at the end when Roderick shoots Jonathan and proceeds to turn the gun on himself.

The snippet that will stir up the most buzz comes during the very last scene of the video where we catch the couple at a picnic table sharing a kiss. This moment already has hundreds of fans sharing their comments. On top of all that activity, throughout the video you see Murs rocking a “Legalize Gay” t-shirt in full support of gay marriage.

“Thanks for all the positive energy and love shown for the new video y’all,” Murs tweeted earlier in the week.
