Nicki Minaj recently headed back to her hometown Trinidad to film the video for her Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded single "Pound the Alarm," and while we've been teased with photos from the set, there's now video footage as well.
In a recently released clip, Minaj is seen walking with a bouquet of flowers and is greeted by other Trinis, who scream and jump up and down with excitement while flashing cell phone cameras at her.
"We're at the 'Pound the Alarm' video shoot, in my homeland, where I was born. We're here baby," Minaj says directly to camera about the Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded track. "Trinidad!" Minaj also reflected on the last time she was in Trinidad, for an MTV documentary that aired in November 2010 and offered a peek into the world of the rapper born Onika Miraj.
"I never thought in a million years I would ever do this," she says in the new teaser. "The last time I came to Trinidad, this was the exact room that I stayed in. This is where we shot "My Time Now" for MTV. My whole family came in," she says trailing off before getting emotional. In the video, which runs two minutes and 28 seconds, the Young Money MC is seeing playing with a Trinidad and Tobago flag, working out the kinks of her dance routine and talking about how supportive the women are in her home country. In some scenes, she's in full carnival gear, as are the young women who seem to be her co-stars in the video. Fans give her plenty of love, too. Many scream and shout out their affections for their favorite Island Girl. "We love you Nicki!" a group of girls shout. Later in the video, a young guy says, "What's good Nicki?! Thanks for being in Trinidad. This video is going to be very hot!"
