2 Chainz's Def Jam debut Based on a T.R.U. Story is due on August 14 lead by the single "No Lie" featuring Drake, and this week the ATL rapper unveiled his cover art for the project. If you thought that the explicit artwork for "No Lie" would be duplicated on the album, you thought wrong. He reached out to Kanye West and DONDA for help with this one.
2 Chainz told Billboard that he immediately reached out to his good pal Kanye when it came time to design his new cover. "Kanye and I share a similar vision and think along the same lines creatively. So, when it came time to develop the imagery for my project, I trusted him and his team at DONDA to get the job done and communicate my sentiments," he explained. "They were the first people I thought of. Their team is unprecedented. Expect next level imagery, sonics and stage performance. This is curated art. The Louvre of rap."
During a visit to "RapFix Live" a few months back, 2 Chainz revealed that he had been recording with West for months, and they haven't stopped working together since. He recently appeared on G.O.O.D. Music's platinum single "Mercy" and his album will feature production from West.
