A$AP Rocky and Black Hippy's ScHoolboy Q have their respective mobs, but their collaborations on "Brand New Guy" and "Hands On The Wheel" have left the hip-hop world buzzing and wanting more. For Q, their chemistry comes from having similar styles and minor differences. "A$AP is the homie, man. We kind of live the same lifestyle. Smoke w---. Sip l---. Get fly," he admitted during a recent episode of "RapFix Live.""I'm a little more gangsta than him. He's a little more swagger than me. We're kind of the same, but from different places."
Fans are clamoring for a collaborative project between the two rappers and both expressed interest in a joint project if the material is right. "Yeah, we had a talk. We definitely talking right now. We may give y'all a project, but it all has to be right," ScHoolboy said. "The time has to be right."
"I want to come out with a project with him, because every time we collab, it's crazy," said A$AP on "RapFix Live" interview with Sway. "Everyone agree on that. When I work with him, it's like friendly competition."
That competition finds both MCs trying to one-up each other on their verses. A$AP openly admitted that he got schooled by Q on the bombastic "Brand New Guy" off his breakout Live.Love.A$AP mixtape. "I laid my verse down first and then he came in and I was like 'Nah, nah, nah,'" he recounted, laughing.
For now, though, both rappers are busy working on solo projects. A$AP's official debut LP Long.Live.A$AP is slated for July release and ScHoolboy Q's Habits And Contradictions dropped in January. Both MCs will appear on this summer's Rock The Bells tour.
