Over the past few months 2 Chainz has watched his star rise, with the release of his mixtape T.R.U. REALigion mixtape, sold-out shows and co-signs from some of the biggest names in hip-hop. The Atlanta rapper recently landed a big feature on Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded single "Beez in the Trap," and all of the notoriety is building up to the release of his solo album Based on a T.R.U. Story. 2 Chainz revealed some details on the album in an interview with TheBoomBox.
"I may talk about some producers, but I'm gonna have some elements of surprise on the album," he said, proceeding to drop a few names. "Of course I'm workin' wit my Drumma Boys, my C-Notes, my Lex Lugers, my Mike Wills, plus this new generation, the new people that I'm working with as well. It's a well-put together project. It's conceptual, and you should be looking out for some new dope visuals too.
On his "Beez in the Trap" collaboration with Nicki, 2 Chainz said that it's been a long time coming. "I've known Nicki for years," he explained. "Shout out to Lil Wayne, Young Money. I've been extended family for years, so we hadn't been in the booth together, but we've been around each other, we've performed together, we road buses together. To finally get up and do a song and they react like this, it was real good for both of us, you know?
