Bobby Brown was arrested in California on Monday (March 26) on suspicion of driving while under the influence. According to TMZ, Brown was stopped by police in Reseda, CA at 12:20PM after he was seen talking on his cell phone, and he is currently being held in custody in a Van Nuys jail. News of Brown’s arrest comes just days after a coroner’s report revealed the cause of death for his ex-wife Whitney Houston.
The 43-year-old is still being held in custody and no details have surfaced as yet, in regards to what Brown may have consumed before driving. His previous run-ins with the law includes a 1996 DUI conviction in Georgia, which landed him 8 days in jail after pleading guilty.
Brown last made headlines during Whitney Houston’s funeral on February 18 when he exited the New Hope Baptist church in Newark, New Jersey over issues with seating.
In a statement released to the press by his rep, Brown explained the situation. "My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston. We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions,” he said .”I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue to ask us and no one else to move.”
"Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi-Kristina," the singer continued. "In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene. My children are completely distraught over the events. This was a day to honor Whitney. I doubt Whitney would have wanted this to occur. I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how."
