El DeBarge is in the clear over drug charges that were filed against him earlier this week. TMZ reports that the case was rejected due to insufficient evidence, according to documents from the Los Angeles District Attorney. The old school crooner was caught red-handed on Tuesday for drug possession where according to TMZ, he was seen participating in what appeared to be a drug deal with another man near the freeway in Encino, California.
DeBarge was arrested for possession of narcotics with intent to sell. This is the latest in a string of arrests for drug possession. He was booked and released on $30,000 bail.
Aside from legal run-ins, DeBarge has been largely quiet in the last few years. In 2010, the "Stop! Don't Tease Me" singer returned to the public eye after a long absence at the BET Awards. Much to fans' delight, he performed a medley from his back catalog (including numbers he performed with his family band DeBarge). The mini-concert included tracks like "All This Love," "Time Will Reveal," and "Rhythm of the Night." His most recent album, Second Chance, was released in November 2010 and featured collaborations with modern hip-hop acts like 50 Cent ("Format"), Fabolous ("5 Seconds") and Faith Evans ("Lay With You.")
