Earl Sweatshirt made his first public appearance at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Tuesday night (March 20) for a sold out concert. Odd Future’s missing rapper, returned home to Los Angeles a few weeks ago, after a long stretch at the Coral Reef Academy in Samoa and his patient public finally got what they were waiting for. After stopping by Hot 97 radio station in NYC for an interview earlier this week, Mr. Sweatshirt took the stage with Tyler, the Creator and the rest of his Odd Future crew.
During the set, Earl got right into the groove, performing his singles “Assmilk,” and “Orange Juice,” after telling the crowd, "Y'all better act like y'all missed me.” An Earl appearance had been rumored for days now, especially following the release of the group’s latest video “Oldie,” which featured every OF member, including the M.I.A. Earl himself.
The group’s new album The Odd Future Tape Vol 2. was officially released on Tuesday, giving them reason to celebrate.
Earl announced his return to the Los Angeles in February by releasing the single “Home." Before he released the song, the OFWGKTA member took to Twitter simply writing, “home.” as his first message. Since then, a collaboration with Santigold was revealed via Twitter when he wrote to her, "the track is ridiculous… I'll send it soon" and she replied with "Sick! Can't wait…"
Odd Future will appear on a special episode of "RapFix Live" on Wednesday (March 21).
