Usher goes back to his roots on the new Diplo-produced, “Climax.” The sultry, sad track is all about the end of one sexy love affair, as Usher emotes over a song that sears and smolders. Yes, the song deserves that much alliteration; it’s just that hot. Usher’s voice dances between his higher range and a lower range, as the slow, pulsing grind of the song plays underneath. He sings about falling for a girl, after kicking off a casual relationship with her. The song’s crescendos, both emotionally and musically, are truly engaging and Usher, who has been favoring upbeat dance tracks as of late, proves that he still has the chops to make truly deep love songs.

Diplo also seems to be pretty proud of it, joking that it’s hotness may lead to a spike in population in the very near future. “I’m pretty sure in 9 months there are gonna be a lot of new babies that this song is responsible for,” he tweeted when the track dropped. “I hope doesnt sound silly. Seriously the best record ive been part of. Really proud of it.. Big up.”

If the song is any indication as to what Usher has up his sleeve next, count us in. We, like Usher, dissecting the ups and downs of romance. And, if history has proved anything, it’s that Usher is just as good a balladeer as he at making hot dance tracks. While we eagerly anticipate some more leaks, there is one guy who got the chance to hear just what Hotlanta’s hottest singer is working on.

“Heard some of my brother @UsherRaymondIV's album,” his pal Scooter Braun teased. “HE IS A #BEAST! that is all.”
