Nicki Minaj was pulling major double duty last night. When she wasn't gracing the Super Bowl halftime stage with Madonna and M.I.A., she was channeling Marilyn Monroe on a newly-leaked track bearing the famous siren’s name. The introspective song "Marilyn Monroe" finds the usually confident and brash Nicki singing about her personal hardships. “Just call me blessed / If you can’t handle my worst / You ain’t getting my best / Is this how Marilyn Monroe felt?” she asks on the chorus. The Young Money even opens up about her insecurities. "Take me or leave me/I'll never be perfect/Believe me/I'm worth it."
Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the all-singing number. "Lonely single girls are gonna start quoting this Nicki Minaj "MarilynMonroe" song more than they do Drake lyrics" snickered one male fan while another gushed, "Love @nickiminaj song Marilyn Monroe! She's really growing as a artist!!!"
No word on whether "Marilyn Monroe" will appear on Minaj's upcoming sophomore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. After premiering the video for her latest single “Stupid Hoe” last month, Minaj announced that the album would be delayed again until April. She shared on Twitter: "New Album Date: April 3rd. Pink Friday: ROMAN RELOADED. But have no fear. Tons of surprises before then ;). Love Always, HB."
