In the early to mid 90s, the Notorious B.I.G. made a major impact on hip-hop with his smooth delivery and captivating rhymes, and March 9th will mark 15 years since the legendary Brooklyn MC passed away. In their March issue, XXL magazine will commemorate the occasion with a full tribute and dedication to Biggie with 40 never-before-seen photos and special interviews with Junior M.A.F.I.A., Faith Evans, Jan Jackson, his kids and more.
The issue will also cover one of the best years in hip-hop, with a recap of the best mixtapes, albums, producers, artists and verses of 1997. To top that off, expect to find some of best Biggie bites, as XXL unveils numerous occasions when the Brooklyn MC’s verses and lines have been recycled. The special edition March issue will be on newsstands February 7.
Last year Italian designer Dontella Versace gave praise to Biggie for wearing her clothing and passing on the passion for Versace fashion to his fans. “I think Biggie was amazing,” Versace said. “He came to my shows in Paris many times, and we’d see each other often. He always used to talk so nicely about my family. I think he was so smart, so intelligent. He had such a mind. So I loved what he was doing and how he was giving people a way to know about Versace—I do think he was giving people a way to know about Versace—I do think a lot of people started to know about Versace because of him.”
