After a prolific, award-winning 2011, Swizz Beatz is looking to bring in the new year with even more music. He won his first Grammy in 2011 for his production on Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 single "On To The Next," and kept his musical buzz going with "Monster Mondays," a weekly leak series inspired by Kanye West's "G.O.O.D. Fridays." On Tuesday (January 10) the Bronx-bred producer/DJ/rapper took to Twitter to announce that he’s in the studio working on a new mixtape, complete with a photo of himself.
“In the studio working on my mix tape:) oh yeah I also cut all the collars of my shirts Lmao,” he wrote. His upcoming album, Haute Living, is reported to have features from Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Bono, Lenny Kravitz, Swizz' wife Alicia Keys, John Legend and Mary J. Blige.
Swizz did other work outside of his actual music in 2011 as well. He was named the first "Producer In Residence" at New York University for the 2010-2011 academic year, and he became the vice president of Creative Design and Global Marketing for the Lotus car company. Perhaps most notably, he became creative director at Reebok, where he represented the brand in commercials, events and by being the face of the company's Basquiat line.
