Jay-Z, Kanye West Earn $6 Million For Sweet 16 Performance

By Lauren Kearney

Do you remember your Sweet 16? Mine was spent in my basement. And we’re pretty positive even the blingest bash on My Super Sweet 16 couldn’t compete with this one. How about paying $6 million for Jay-Z and Kanye West (aka The Throne) to perform at your birthday bash? That’s how much Manchester Football Club owner, Sheikh Mansour, paid for the pair to fly out to Dubai so his niece and her guests could Watch the Throne.

Yeezy and Jay, who are nominated for a combined 10 awards at the 2012 Grammys--including Best Rap Album for their WTT collaboration and Best Rap Song for “Otis”--performed both their collaborations and a few of their respective solo hits at the pricey Sweet 16 party.

Kanye West's New DJ Name: Yeezy World Peace

Thinking about booking a performer for your next rager? Unless you’re a millionaire, stick to a local band. And we’re pretty sure the birthday girl’s friends must be throwing in the towel when it comes to competition. Who in the world could ever top that?

But if you are dying to see the two perform, there are much cheaper options available. Jay-Z has two charity events coming up this February at Carnegie Hall. And Kanye is planning on displaying his DJ skills under the alias Yeezy World Peace this New Year’s Eve. As long as the price tag isn’t anywhere near $6 million, count us in.
