On Christmas Day Lil Kim shared a new promotional image for her upcoming EP along with a Twitter message for her fans, writing, “Hey Guys!!! I have a little Gift for U. A little preview of what's to come. Merry Christmas :) !!!!!” She also promised that there was “More to come!!!!” and on Tuesday she followed up with news that she was in the studio with 50 Cent.
In da studio with my boys @50cent @floydmayweather @clsdash and @thaboyparis lego!!!,” Kim wrote on Tuesday morning (December 27), announcing that she was at work with Fif and producer Paris Page. Although Kim didn’t reveal any further details, it seems likely that the music will end up on her upcoming EP. 50 Cent and Lil Kim have collaborated twice in the past, on the popular single “Magic Stick,” and before that on G-Unit’s single “Wanna Lick.”
If Kim sticks to her original plan, the new EP is set to drop before the year’s end, and it will be followed by a full-length album in 2012. “For the Holidays I’m releasing a 5 song EP for yall as a preview of what’s to come in 2012 & so on 4rm Lil’ Kim :) !!!!!” Kim tweeted in November after releasing her single “I Am Not The One” to iTunes.
Maybe 2012 will be Kim’s big comeback year. In November the Brooklyn rapper also announced plans to release a new book called "The Price of Loyalty" along with an untitled documentary, both of which would document her pre-and-post prison life. During an interview on Kay Slay’s Streetsweeper Radio show on Shade 45 Kim chatted about the book and explained the delay in releasing new music.
“I’ve been independent; you know I left my record company two years ago. I was in another situation and that’s going to be in the documentary as well and why it took so long,” she said. “I am not sure if I’m going to separate that documentary from that book. That’s what we’re trying to figure out right now.”
