After contributing his expertise and ratings magnetism to several shows on top sports network ESPN, Lil Wayne is going for self. On December 24, he released his first installment of “Weezy’s Sports Corner,” a video web series that will see the Young Money captain musing about the latest happenings in the sports world.
The video blog is a continuation of a text blog of the same title, which Wayne began when he was blogging from prison. In a room filled with Green Bay Packers merchandise and skateboards adorned with “YMCMB,” Wayne announced that he would be releasing the videos every Saturday. He insisted that he and his guests will all speak freely, and gave a list of his favorite teams: the aforementioned Packers, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Red Sox, Washington Capitals, Louisiana State University [presumably football], and University of North Carolina basketball. Listeners will have the chance to post their own questions and topics for Wayne to answer.
In the first installment of the show, Wayne interviewed Chris Paul, the NBA All-Star who was just traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. He also gave commentary on the new NBA season (which began on Christmas Day), college basketball, upcoming NFL matchups, college football, and more. He dropped seven videos at once, separating them for their respective sports.
Wayne also announced that he would be part of a new upcoming show called Sports Wrap, where he would provide commentary alongside retired professional basketball player Jalen Rose and sports journalist Rob Parker.
