(Ross on 'Y.O.L.O.' mixtape with Drake)

Rick Ross has collaborated plenty with his Maybach Music Group signees throughout 2011, but as the year comes to a close, the Bawse is going back to his solo material. “It's Official Drop'n New Mixtape!!! #RozayNewTape,” he announced from his Twitter account on Thursday night (December 15). A couple of tweets earlier, Rozay said that he wrote an album’s worth of material while he was visiting South Africa. “My view was priceless,” he added.
Ross had been relatively quiet since suffering two seizures in October, but his Maybach Music Group crew has remained busy throughout the entire year. The crew’s Self Made Vol. 1 compilation garnered critical acclaim earlier this year, Meek Mil has found success through singles like “Tupac Back,” and Wale’s album Ambition sold approximately 163,000 copies in its first week.
This new untitled mixtape adds to Ross’ workload: the Miami emcee had already announced that he was in the lab with Drake for a joint mixtape entitled Y.O.L.O. (You Only Live Once), looking to recapture the spirit of previous collaborations like “Aston Martin Music” and “Free Spirit.” He also has his fourth studio album, God Forgives, I Don’t, in the chamber as well.
Ross has previously used mixtapes such as Albert Anastasia EP and Ashes To Ashes to give early previews of “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast),” the Ne-Yo-assisted “Super High” and more songs that would end up on albums, along with other original music.
