Nicki Minaj has been added to the lineup for the 40th annual “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” event along with Pitbull, will.i.am., Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Florence + the Machine. Just count it as another notch on Nicki’s already eventful year, which now includes a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.
The show, which will be anchored by "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest, with help from Fergie in Los Angeles and Jenny McCarthy in New York and will air live from 8 p.m. until after midnight on December 31. The Los Angeles portion of the show has added Taio Cruz, Minaj, Florence, Gym Class Heroes, Blink-182, OneRepublic, the Band Perry, will.i.am. and Christina Perri. Gaga, Bieber, Pitbull and Hot Chelle Rae will be on hand for the New York portion of the show.
After closing out a big year on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” Minaj will be gearing up to release her sophomore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. The Young Money rapper dropped the LP’s first single “Roman in Moscow” last week, calling it a teaser for the album.
On the track, one of Minaj’s most wayward alter egos Roman Zolanski is running amok in Moscow after escaping from boarding school. "Well, he was there [in Moscow] secretly because [alter ego] Martha wanted him to go there, so they put him in this thing with monks and nuns; they were trying to rehabilitate him," Minaj explained. "But I can't tell exactly what happened, you'll just see it in the video format, but let's just say he got out of there." Minaj added that the video for "Roman in Moscow" "will be shot real soon."
Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded is set for release on February 14, Valentine's Day.
