T.I.’s well-publicized run-ins with the law have almost derailed his career momentum, but since the “King of the South” was released from prison this year, he’s been on a creative upswing. He’s appeared on several big features in addition to dropping singles from his upcoming album Trouble Man, and he's currently prepping the new season of his reality series, TI And Tiny: The Family Hustle. During a recent interview with Billboard, T.I. gave Eminem credit for helping him to overcome an addiction to painkillers, which began after an oral surgery.
I haven’t had a chance to speak to Em since I’ve been home,” Tip said. “I heard that while I was down, he was trying to get in touch with me, but I don’t know the dots didn’t connect. Em has been an enormous supporter and him overcoming his own adversities, winning the battle against his own demons within himself and continuing to break the mold and reset the standard of what it means to be the most successful hip-hop artist in the game, I salute that to no end.”
Tip went on to praise Eminem for his recent Shady Records signings. “I love what he’s doing with Slaughterhouse and I love the move that he made to sign Yelawolf and the record with him and Royce the 5’9 [Bad Meets Evil EP], that record is going ham,” he gushed. He also gave Slim Shady glowing props for his 2011 BET Hip-Hop Awards Cypher performance and promised that he’ll be reaching out to the Motor City MC soon.
“I just haven’t had the chance to pick up the phone and get to him personally, but, it’s coming,” said T.I.
