Nicki Minaj Is Female Weezy In Birdman's 'Y.U. Mad' Video

“Y.U. Mad” is the latest single from Birdman’s upcoming, fifth solo album Bigga Than Life, and both Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne star alongside the Cash Money CEO in the new video. Catch Nicki Minaj channeling her “Female Weezy” character, in blonde dreadlocks, a wife beater and camouflaged skater pants. And catch Lil Wayne as…Weezy, in a giant red fur hat and a skateboard backpack. Last month MTV News caught up with the crew on the video set for “Y.U. Mad” in Miami, where it was all fun and games.

Although the song’s title implies otherwise, Lil Wayne insisted that no one was actually too upset about anything. “Honestly though, I don’t think no one is actually mad, it’s just a figure of speech,” Wayne explained to MTV News, analyzing Nicki Minaj’s hook on the song. “I think Nick just sounded good saying ‘mad’ at that point in the song. I don’t think it would’ve been cooler if she said, ‘That’s why you glad.’”

“I don’t think it would’ve sounded cooler, I think that’s why she went with ‘mad.’ We have to ask her next time I see her,” Wayne continued, jokingly. “I’m not sure if you guys are actually really mad, because we don’t want you guys mad if that’s what it is.”

Birdman also took a minute to explain how the track came about in the first place. “Nicki gave me that song. She called me one day like, ‘Stunna I got a record I think you would like,’” Baby said, while hanging on his bus. “I liked it from the start, working with Nicki is just special anyway so and it was something she gave me and I felt good about it so we rocked with it.”
