Young Money's breakout star was not impervious to the dreaded album leak cycle—Take Care hit the net late Sunday night, and has continued to trend since then—but Drake still has a few tricks up his sleeve. In a recent interview with XXL, the Toronto heartthrob and former teen television star revealed plans to roll out a joint mixtape with Maybach Music CEO boss Rick Ross, titled Y.O.L.O. (You Only Live Once).
"I have been working on a mixtape with Ross,” Drake shared. “A mixtape called Y.O.L.O. [That means] ‘You Only Live Once’. I’ve been working on that for the last couple of weeks. We haven’t really connected because he’s been going through this thing with his health. I’ve been stashing my little beats and verses.”
Drake also revealed that the ballyhooed joint project between he and Lil Wayne has been shelved, with a possibility that the collaborative effort might never see the light of day. Drizzy didn’t elaborate on why the joint project was halted, but he enthusiastically promoted the Ross union, saying that he would prefer to drop the album without much in the way of media buildup.
Drake’s sophomore album Take Care officially drops on November 15 with features from Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Andre 3000 and more. Rick Ross’ upcoming album God Forgives, I Don’t is currently set for release on December 13.
